That’s also when the 215 Festival, dedicated to literary arts, will come back as a virtual experience. Joshua Demaree is director of the 215 Festival and cofounder of Blue Stoop, a sister organization that offers classes and community to writers. “This year,” says Demaree, “we are creating a program of events focused on recognizing the many accomplishments of Philadelphia writers over the past few months, including books published, poems written, independent bookstores thriving in our community, and independent presses and literary magazines publishing vital and engaging work.” (And if your novel isn’t finished yet, avail yourself of that other Philly lit scene stalwart: Blue Stoop’s low-cost, high-octane writing classes.)
Literary Philly, the organization behind the festival, is a yearlong effort that also offers free event listings to the community. A simple follow on Instagram or a visit to literaryphilly.org is all you need in order to find where to go to perform, meet like-minded people, and connect with other writers, editors, and creatives.
