The year was 2018, and I was afraid. Afraid of permanently leaving home, afraid of choosing a career path, afraid—simultaneously—of losing myself, finding myself, and being myself. I had just graduated from college, and I had a nagging suspicion that whatever I did next would define the rest of my life (no pressure).
As luck would have it, I had landed in the ideal situation to be so confused: a stint as a post-baccalaureate artist at my alma mater. The job afforded me the unique opportunity to spend the better part of a year creating visual art—even better, to figure out what I was going to do when I eventually entered “the real world.” I didn’t know exactly how I’d spend this time, but I knew I had to use it for important business, major life breakthroughs, some serious figuring shit out.
I spent it drawing comics. //
