Grounds for Sculpture
Hamilton, NJ
“Quirky, playful, and surprising,” is how chief audience officer Kathleen Greene describes Grounds for Sculpture, just an hour away from Philadelphia in Hamilton, New Jersey. It’s the complete day-trip package: This often overlooked art experience offers more than 300 sculptures spread across 42 acres of land—formerly where New Jersey State Fairgrounds used to reside—surrounded by collections of unique plants and trees. It also offers a plethora of classes and workshops that cater to all interests and hobbies: Submerge yourself in a sound bath, indulge in an outdoor tai chi class, or enlighten yourself with a class on the art of herbalism. Programs tied into horticulture run year-round; for the little ones, Tots for Sculpture, a creative craft-making session, is run the first Saturday of each month (admission fee is $5). //
